It Began in Our Kitchen
September Farm started in our farmhouse kitchen when Dave Rotelle decided to try his hand at making cheese. Inspired by New England cheesemakers during a family trip, Dave turned a simple kit and recipe into his very first wheel of cheese. What began as a kitchen experiment quickly became a dream to build a family business rooted in tradition and community.

Cheese in Our DNA
Dave’s mother, Joy, was a gifted cook and caterer known for her famous cheesecakes. Her passion for food inspired Dave’s natural ability in the kitchen. As he perfected his new art of cheese making, I became the official taste tester. That same dedication carried into our farm, which was honored as a Dairy of Distinction in 2002. In 2013, Dave was named Chester County Farmer of the Year.

The Start of Something Bigger
In 2007, we officially established September Farm Cheese. Each cheese carried a piece of our family story. Joy’s Tomato Basil Jack honored Dave’s mother and our daughter, Joy. Robertson’s Select Cheddar came from Dave’s family name. Jumpin’ Jack Jalapeño was inspired by my love of horseback competition. Even our hometown has a place on the label, with Honey Brook Mild and Medium Cheddar created for our community.

From Farm to Market
After seven years of making and selling cheese on the farm, we expanded to our current location on Route 322 in 2013. We designed the new space to look like an old country store, complete with a state-of-the-art cheese plant, bakery, sandwich shop, and market. It became more than a production site — it became a place to welcome customers and share our family’s passion with the community.
