At September Farm, we craft premium cheeses from fresh whole milk sourced directly from local dairies. Every batch is pasteurized, cultured, and handcrafted in small vats using time-honored methods that bring out the best in each variety.
From sharp, aged cheddars to smooth Monterey Jacks and award-winning flavor blends like Chives & Dill Jack, our cheeses reflect both tradition and innovation. Whether enjoyed on their own, paired with your favorite foods, or featured on a cheeseboard, our farm-fresh cheeses bring authentic flavor to every occasion.
What Makes Our Cheese Different?
Unlike mass-produced cheeses, September Farm cheeses are made in small batches with care and attention at every step. The fresh, local milk we use creates a rich, creamy foundation, while traditional methods, such as cheddaring and curd washing, give each cheese its distinct character.
By hand-packing, aging, and seasoning our cheeses, we create flavor profiles that are complex, memorable, and true to the art of farmstead cheesemaking.
How Should I Store Our Cheeses?
For the best flavor and texture, wrap hard and semi-hard cheeses such as cheddar or jack in wax paper or cheese paper before placing them in a loose plastic bag in your refrigerator’s vegetable drawer. If you purchase a bar of our hand-waxed cheddar, simply place a piece of tinfoil tightly over the open end and store it in a loose plastic bag in your fridge.
Bring cheese to room temperature 30–60 minutes before serving for peak flavor. Because our cheeses are free from artificial preservatives, we recommend enjoying them within a few weeks of opening.
What Cheese Pairings Work Best?
Our cheddars and jacks shine when paired with crusty bread, crackers, and seasonal fruits. Try sharp cheddar with crisp apples, creamy Monterey Jack with fresh grapes, or Chives & Dill Jack alongside Breton Water Crackers. Honey, nuts, and jams also make excellent accompaniments, turning any cheeseboard into a centerpiece for entertaining.
Many of our flavored jack cheeses shine in your favorite recipes, such as lasagna, quiche, or when melted on a hand-pressed burger. Our Fresh cheddar cheese curds make the perfect appetizer board with our PA Dutch Pretzels, or try them crumbled on salads, or let them melt over your homemade margarita pizza!
How Long Do Our Cheeses Last?
Unopened and properly stored, our aged cheddars can last several months; they'll just age into an even sharper cheddar! Monterey Jack and other semi-hard cheeses are best enjoyed within 2–3 weeks of opening.
Fresh cheeses and spreads should be enjoyed quickly to capture their peak flavor. Always rely on your senses; if you notice unusual odors or texture changes, it’s best to discard the item.
